Berry Babble (“we”, “us”, “the app”) is a tongue-twister pronunciation game. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using Berry Babble you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information — your email address and display name, obtained when you sign in with Google or Apple, used to create your profile and leaderboard entry.
Audio recordings — when you record a tongue twister, the audio is sent to our server and to OpenAI for transcription and scoring. It is processed to produce your score.
Gameplay data — your attempts, scores, XP, streaks and achievements, used to power your profile and the leaderboard.
Technical data — basic request logs (such as timestamps) needed to operate and secure the service.
First-party interaction events — to understand whether features work, we record a small, fixed set of in-app events tied to your account (for example: you viewed or opened the daily Berry Battle, you tapped retry after an unscored recording, you opened or completed the share sheet, you opened a challenge link). These are names from a fixed list plus our own internal identifiers. They contain no audio, no transcript, no free-form text, no email address, no advertising identifier and no device identifier, and they are not shared with any third party.
Advertising identifiers — Berry Babble shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers (such as your device's advertising ID) and app interaction data to serve and measure ads. Ads shown are non-personalized — we do not use this data to build an advertising profile of you or track you across other apps or websites.
2. How we use your information
Primarily to provide and improve the game: to authenticate you, transcribe and score your recordings, award XP, display leaderboards, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data. Berry Babble does show non-personalized ads through Google AdMob to support the free version of the app — see "Third-party services" below for what that involves.
3. Third-party services
Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
OpenAI — we send your voice recording to OpenAI's speech-to-text service to transcribe what you said so we can score your pronunciation. Only the recording (and no account identifiers) is sent, it is used solely to return a transcription for that attempt, and per OpenAI's API terms it is not used to train OpenAI's models.
These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it with safeguards equivalent to those described in this policy. Before your recording is first sent to OpenAI, the app tells you what is shared and with whom and asks for your permission.
4. Data retention & deletion
We keep your account and gameplay data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.
Some data is removed automatically, sooner:
Your recording — the audio itself is deleted as soon as the recording has been scored (or has permanently failed). It is never stored long-term and is never shared or made available by link.
Processing records — the record of a scoring job, including the transcript of what was heard, is deleted after 30 days.
Challenge links — a challenge link expires seven days after it is created, and the link and its acceptances are deleted 30 days after that.
Interaction events — the first-party events described in section 1 are deleted after 180 days.
Your scores — numeric scores, XP, streaks and achievements are kept for the life of your account so your history and streaks remain accurate, and are deleted when you delete your account.
Delete your data: use the Delete my data page, or email
logeshgcp@gmail.com. We remove your profile, attempts, recordings and leaderboard entries, and confirm once complete.
5. Children
Berry Babble is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, access controls) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
